Pictures....

Hey can I see that camera??

Mama and Daddy took me out to breakfast, I'm just waiting for my eggs!

Daddy needed my help fixing the squeak on the rocker.

He let me play with his wrenches.

I love my sister Sinder, she gives me lots of kisses and doesn't care when I crawl all over her.

Daddy brought this chair down from the attic the other day and its my new favorite spot! Mama and Daddy bought this chair for my cousin Bailey a long time ago when they still lived in California. They got it at costco and when they got home they realized there were two chairs in the box so they've been carrying it around for 6 or 7 years, just for me!!

I painted this butterfly they other day at school. Isn't it pretty??
I know its been a while since my last update. I'm still working one double a week, and I'm getting pretty tired of it. There is light at the end of the overtime tunnel though! I'm working a 12 hour shift Memorial day, then my usual 16 hour shift on Tues, then I'm working a grave yard shift on June 7 and that's all. There isn't any more overtime in my near future!

Actually I've got some days off for camping coming up. We have three camping trips already planned. Our annual 4th of July camping with the Ballards in Florence of course. We're planning five nights and we're both really looking forward to it. Its always a good time! It'll be a whole new world for Ashlyn. I'm a little nervous about the camp fire and I know Grammy will be a nervous wreck the whole week we're there. But with all the people that will be around I'm sure Ashlyn will be fine. I'm hoping to take our bikes, still trying to figure out how we'll get them down there.I'm keeping my fingers crossed for nice weather so we can take Ashlyn to the lake and hopefully do at least one day at the beach. I can remember like maybe two or three sunny, non-windy days at the Oregon coast in my life time. I'm anticipating lots of sandy diapers!

Our first camping of the season begins next weekend. We're cheating a little bit though; we're borrowing the camp trailer from Mom and Eddie. We're going up to Timothy Lake near Mt Hood and they've been getting a lot of snow lately. Then the weekend of June 19th we're going camping with Jered's aunt, uncle and cousins. This will be our third year camping with them and its always a lot of fun. Usually we go up around Breitenbush River but this year we're thinking about Odell Lake. I don't think any decisions have been made yet. I've also got a few days off  towards the end of July that we're hoping to go camping again too.I'm off Mondays in July and I traded with a girl at work that has Fridays off in July. This way we both get a four day weekend. Pretty genius, I know! Ashlyn should be a camping pro by the end of the summer.

Jered got laid off a couple of weeks ago. He's had one interview and applied for a couple of jobs. We're keeping our fingers crossed that something good will come up. He officially has his own survey business with his friend Justin. If you know anyone that needs a survey done, send them to Shamrock Surveying LLC.  :o)  I have to be honest and say that its been great having Jered home for the last couple of weeks. He did a TON of work in the yard last week. We had a bbq for my student at work last weekend and the yard looked amazing. If we ever get some nice weather, he'll be able to stain the deck and then it'll look like a brand new house. Last night I came home to a clean house! He took Ashlyn down to Woodburn on Thurs to see her great grandparents and he was able to help his Grandpa with their deck. If it weren't for the that whole lack of paycheck thing, I'd love to have a house husband on a more permanent basis! In two weeks he was able to do work around the house that would've taken us numerous weekends to get done.

For now we're keeping Ashlyn in her daycare. Its good for her and she enjoys it. She's excited in the mornings when I drop her off, which makes it so much easier for me. Usually on Mondays when she's been off for two days she hardly cares that I'm leaving, its hard to get a goodbye hug. She loves playing with her friends there and she loves her teachers. We had a parent teacher conference the other day and she's doing awesome of course. Smartest kid they've ever seen! Genius levels of course!! She'll be moving up to the next class soon. I heard on Friday that it'll probably be around July 19th. Not sure yet if she'll be a Bunny or a Duckling. I'm hoping for Duckling, Go Ducks!! Plus her teachers from when she was a Ladybug are now the Duckling teachers. She visited the Duckling class on Friday and when I went to pick her up she was not ready to go home. She wanted to show me all the new stuff she was getting to play with. I'm sure she'll be fine when its time to transition. It'll be hard on Mom though, I won't see her at lunch anymore once she moves up. My lunch falls right at her nap time in the new class. We all have to grow up though, even Mom.

A few pictures to tide you over for a while......

I'm doing my chores.....helping Mama swiffer the floors.

I loved the snow! I really loved running around in it, but it was real cold in my hands.

I liked watching the dogs jump around in the snow too, they were funny!
I was real tired yesterday. I passed out about 5pm and didn't wake up until this morning.
Mama said I'm a little tornado because I twist and turn and kick my feet  when I sleep.

Busy bees!!!

We've had a busy couple of weeks! Busy spending time with friends and family, busy at work (well I am at least), busy doing yard work, etc etc. Seems like we're always doing something. We have been working hard on the yard. We built a retaining wall in the back and finally got that filled in yesterday. Jered pulled out five stumps yesterday. Last week he pulled out the Oregon grapes that were in the backyard too. I've been scraping up all the old bark mulch, weeding and doing all the clean-up thats been needing done for a while now. We've cleaned out some of the gravel from the dog run (and recycled it by using it in the retaining wall!) and put down new gravel. Our friends have let us borrow their trailer so we have something to haul the yard debris in. And to bring back the tons of bark we need to cover up all the areas we're hauling it out of. We have tons of little projects in our minds that we'd like to get done, it just takes time and money unfortunately. Ashlyn has been very cooperative with us. She plays on the deck with the dogs or whatever she can find. She'll play in her pack-n-play for short periods of time when we need to be in the front. She doesn't really like to touch the grass. This kid of ours is very finicky about stuff that sticks to her hands! She also takes one very long nap, at least 2-3 hours and that lets us get A LOT done.

Jered and I went to the Astoria Seafood and Wine Fest a couple of weekends ago with some friends. We had so much fun! We'd never been and everyone kept telling us it's the best wine fest and now I totally agree. My mom and Eddie came up to stay with Ashlyn on Friday night because we were planning to leave early on Sat. We really appreciated them coming up, its hard to travel on a Friday evening after working all week. We left the house a little before 7am to have breakfast at our friends house before heading to Astoria. We got checked into our hotel and were waiting for the first bus at 10am to take us to the festival! We did lots of tasting, ate lots of food, listened to some music and by about 2pm we were ready for a nap. I don't nap, I've never been a napper. But, after a little wine, ok a lot of wine! I was able to nap for a couple of hours. We woke up so refreshed! We had an amazing dinner that night at Baked Alaska on the waterfront. So yummy! My steak was cooked perfectly and so tender, De-lish!

This last Wed. we headed down to Klamath Falls for two nights. I went to a two day conference at OIT and brought the whole family with me. Jered and Ashlyn and the dogs! Ashlyn had a blast in the hotel room. We had a little mini suite and there were tons of cupboards that she could climb into. She loved the closet doors too. They were mirrored and she was always checking herself out! She figured out how to close those too and was always hiding inside with the doors shut. It was a 12 hour day for me on Thurs so Jered just hung out, worked on some paperwork, visited his old track coach, drove around checking out the town, took a nap with Ashlyn. So much different from when we lived there 10 years ago. Its crazy to think its already been 10 years. I moved to Klamath in 1999. Weird! It was a half day on Friday, so after checking out of the hotel we went for lunch at our FAVORITE mexican restaurant in the entire world. Sergios, yum!!! Only problem was after lunch we were so tired, it was a rough drive home. We made multiple stops just to wake ourselves up. We tried stopping at Silver Creek Falls but the road was blocked, so we went to the rest stop part and let the dogs play an the snow. Ashlyn was funny, she kept reaching for the snow but didn't like how cold it was. She loved walking in it though. She did really great in the car, 5 hours down, 5 hours back home. It helped that we stopped and let her run around but after a while she did not want to go back into the seat.

This weekend we spent in the yard. My dad came up to visit yesterday! It had been a while since we'd seen him last so it was great to have him come up. He stayed most of the afternoon with us, helped Jered with one difficult stump. Ashlyn was being shy at first but after she got warmed up, she was her usual happy go lucky self. She liked being outside all day. She was running around, exploring the yard. She likes the deck better because its more stable and when she falls she doesn't have to touch the grass to stand up. She was definitely working her abs, not using her hands to stand up, whining the whole time. Usually Grandpa would feel sorry for her and help her up!

We still have a lot to do in the yard, its seems never ending! We'll be getting our hanging baskets soon from Grandpa Floyd and after we put down all the bark and plant some new plants it should be looking pretty good. Its a work in progress that's for sure! I'm working one double shift a week until we hire someone for the 3-11pm. Ashlyn is doing great, she got two more teeth on the top, finally. These ones were rough on mom and dad. They're the bigger teeth towards the back and they took a while to finally punch through the gums.

This weekend is Mother's Day so Happy Mother's Day to all the mother's out there! We don't have anything planned yet. Last year Jered and Ashlyn gave me a bougainvillea plant, but we think it might've died. So this year I'm asking for a lilac bush (hint hint, Jered). Our neighbors have them and they smell so good! Plus we have the perfect spot to put it now that Jered and Dad dug out that stump!!

Tall and Lean

Our kid is "Tall and Lean" according to the doctor we saw yesterday. She weighed 23.4lbs and she's 31.1 inches tall. Right in the middle for weight and at the top of the chart for height! So even though she inherited the Ballard short legs she's making up for it somehow! Jered always teases me about how short she is and how its all my fault because its obviously not his. After he heard the doctor call her tall and lean, he knew he'd never hear the end of it.

We've had a tiring couple of weeks. Ashlyn is teething and not sleeping well which means Jered and I aren't sleeping well. She's been crabby on and off for the last couple of weeks too. She threw the biggest fit the other day when we were on our walk at work. I wanted her to keep her hat on and she didn't want to. She screamed like a banshee for a good 30 minutes. I couldn't believe it! She was unrecognizable, that was not my kid! That kid scared the hell out of me! I took her back to the daycare and she finally calmed down. I gave her her soothie, she climbed up on my lap and fell asleep. She's thrown a couple of little fits lately too. I'm afraid our sweet little baby girl has some surprises in store for her parents! I'm also afraid she's going to have temper and I've already witnessed a strong stubborn streak. We might be in trouble! I'm hoping this was all because she hasn't been sleeping well. Crossing my fingers too!

She visited the Bunny room in daycare on Wednesday. Its one of two classes she could move into (probably in Sept). The Bunny and Ducklings have more of a scheduled day. All of the kids eat at the same time, nap at the same time, play at the same time and do all their activities together. It will be the end of the line for me visiting her at lunch. They eat lunch between 11am and noon and then its nap time after that. She didn't walk with us on Wednesday and I missed her but the Bunny teachers told me all about how great of a day she had visiting with them. When I went to pick her up she wasn't even ready to leave, she was having snack time. She was excited to see me, she just wanted me to have snacks too instead of going home.

We're still trying to expand her sign language and she's doing really really well. We've found a couple of cool websites that have video demonstrations. Her new word this week is ball. She thinks its pretty fun to toss the ball for dogs. We've also been teaching her where her eyes, ears, nose, etc are. She knows belly, ears and nose so far. Jered taught her high-five too. Its super cute, of course! One of her favorite new books is a book that her cousins brought her last week. Its called "Five Little Ladybugs" and I'm positive we've read it to her at least 100 times in the last week!

Here's some pictures from one of our walks the other day and a good one of our tall and lean girl waiting for her bath :)

Tall and Lean peeps!!

This is one of my favorite things to do in the kitchen....throw ALL of the lids on the floor!

The best part is watching Mama pick them all up so that I can just do it again!

Mama and Daddy take me for walks and I like to look at the pretty flowers.

Mama picked this one for me

I like to run now, but sometimes I get going so fast that I can't slow down. Its lots of fun though even if I fall.

Easter weekend....

Well it was a long drive but luckily Ashlyn slept most of the way to Kari and John's last weekend. Meltdown started about 30 miles out. It took us about 4 hours because we made a couple of stops along the way.  We finally got to meet beautiful baby Grace! She is so gorgeous! Ashlyn really didn't seem to mind the new baby. She did like to peek at her in cradle when she was sleeping. One time, Patsy and I were in the back bedroom and we thought we better go out and check on Ashlyn since she was in the living room and Grace was in the cradle. I found Ashlyn walking around with a little tiny sock in her hand. I knew it wasn't hers since it was so little. I went over to look at Grace and she was still sleeping soundly but her little naked foot was poking out of the blanket. Ashlyn had unwrapped her feet and pulled off one of her socks. Grace slept through the whole thing!! :o) Ashlyn loves to pull of her own socks, guess she thought it would be fun to pull of Grace's too.

We had Easter dinner on Saturday night and a great brunch Sunday morning before it was time for us to go home. It was sad saying goodbye to everyone especially Patsy since we know it'll be a while before we see her again. Jered set up a webcam on her computer though so that we can Skype and her and Steve will get to see Ashlyn. We've only tried it once so far and there were some technical difficulties but I think Jered got them all figured out so that we can use it now.

The smartest cutest kid in the world is still working on her sign language, we're now trying to teach her poop so she can tell us when her diaper needs changed (not that we can't smell it anyway). She's using her other words more and more too. She's trying to go faster and faster when she's walking which just means that she's falling more. She fell the other day at day care and scraped her nose on the carpet. So she's gotta a little scab right on the end. She seems to cry more now than ever but I think its because she's frustated more than ever. She's trying to be more and more independent and gets real pissed when something doesn't work out like she wants it to. We're loving the nicer weather these last few days and wish it could last longer than it probably will. Hoping to take Ashlyn for another bike ride later today too. She loves it, except for the helmet!

This is my new cousin Grace, isn't she so cute???
Here she is making faces...
and staring off into space.....
Mama was trying to get a picture of both of us but I wasn't being very cooperative

Cool Kid in my new sunglasses my mama got me!

With my daddy waiting to go on my first bike ride!

The slide was my favorite part!!

Playing on the treadmill. This is probably my new favorite toy. Daddy put it in the living room so they'd use it more :)

I love to go off belly first!

Grandma Patsy rocking me to sleep. She stayed at my house for a few days and it was a lot of fun. I hope she'll come again soon

This is my Aunt Jenny. I didn't go to the party but Mama said it was real fun. She's wearing a fake sombrero and everyone sang happy birthday to her.
